Coffee Cocktail
A Victorian flip from Jerry Thomas's 1887 bar guide containing neither coffee nor a cocktail in the traditional sense — it gets its name from its dark color. Port, brandy, and whole egg produce a rich, custard-like drink.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ oztawny port
- 1 ½ ozbrandy
- 1 ozsugar
- 1whole egg
- garnishnutmeg
Steps
- 1.Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
- 2.Fill with ice and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well-chilled.
- 3.Strain into a chilled glass.
