New Orleans' official cocktail, a rye (originally cognac) build with Peychaud's bitters and sugar served in an absinthe-rinsed glass, drinking spirit-forward, anise-scented, and unmistakably Creole.
Ingredients
- 2 ozrye whiskey
- ¼ ozsimple syrup
- 4Peychaud's bitters
- 1absinthe
- garnishlemon peel
Steps
- 1.Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass.
- 2.Fill with ice and stir gently for about 30 seconds until well-chilled.
- 3.Strain into a chilled glass.
