Prescription Julep
A Civil War-era julep combining cognac and rye whiskey in a split-base formula. The combination of French brandy and American rye creates a deeply complex julep with layers of fruit, grain, and herbal mint.
Ingredients
- 1 ozcognac
- 1 ozrye whiskey
- ½ ozsimple syrup
- 2Angostura bitters
- garnishmint
Steps
- 1.Add the fresh ingredients to the bottom of the glass or shaker and muddle firmly.
- 2.Add the remaining ingredients and ice.
- 3.Stir gently to combine and serve.
