Japanese Cocktail (Jerry Thomas)
Despite its name, the Japanese Cocktail has no Japanese ingredients — it is an 1862 Jerry Thomas creation from How to Mix Drinks, using cognac, orgeat, and Angostura bitters. Thomas created it to celebrate the first Japanese diplomatic mission to the United States.
Ingredients
- 2 ozcognac
- ½ ozorgeat syrup
- 2Angostura bitters
- garnishlemon peel
Steps
- 1.Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass.
- 2.Fill with ice and stir gently for about 30 seconds until well-chilled.
- 3.Strain into a chilled glass.
